Description: In this workshop we will use acrylic paint and mixed media to delve into the visual language of paint in order to create art that expresses your unique imagination. As we explore the foundations of two-dimensional surfaces, you will build your visual vocabulary within the foundational elements and principles of design. Using both intuition and intellect, learn to make a painting from ground up, layering and mixing color to create an evocative surface texture. This fun class will expand your knowledge of both materials and techniques.

Media Techniques: Foundations of acrylic paint; glazing, masking, sanding, layering. You are encouraged to bring
any extra media; graphite, charcoal, crayons, oil pastels, found papers. Surfaces to paint on; paper, wood panel or
canvas, your choice.

Activities: Morning warm-ups, exercises and lessons. Painting compositions of choice: landscapes, still life’s, florals or
delving into your internal story and experience creating a narrative body of work. Studio time will be outlined at the
beginning of the week. Emphasis on discovery and working freely with modeled experimentation at the core.
